Nowember

First of all, care should be taken that the walnut saplings taken are grafted, true to their name and of good quality (developed root structure, diameter).
The pits where the saplings will be planted should be 60×60 cm in size, the pit should be filled halfway with a mixture of top soil and 2-3 shovels of burnt animal manure. Burnt animal manure: It is very important for the seedling in that the soil does not squeeze the root of the seedling and keeps the seedling warm in winter and moist and cool in summer. However, if burnt animal manure cannot be found, chemical root fertilizers should be used. These fertilizers are 20-20 or 18-46 (DAP) and should be used by throwing 150-200 grams at the bottom of the pit.
The root pruning of the walnut sapling is done (part of the long roots are taken), the sapling is placed in the pit so that the graft site is 5 cm above the soil, annealed soil is placed on the root part, and the top is filled with other soil, up to 5 liters of life water is given.
If the land is windy, the seedlings are tied with hereke.

December

Since the walnut sapling is dormant, it does not need any care. Planting can also be done in this month, as we described in November.

January

Since the walnut sapling is dormant, it does not need any care. Planting can also be done in this month, as we described in November.

Fabruary

The top pruning of the newly planted walnut saplings is done from 40 cm.
A 2% burgundy slurry is applied to the previously planted walnut saplings. Preparation of Claret Red Slurry: Claret red slurry is a mixture prepared using bluestone (Copper Sulphate 98%) and lime. 2% burgundy slurry is prepared as follows: 2 kg bluestone is dissolved in 50 liters of water. Then, half the amount of bluestone, ie 1 kg of quicklime, is dissolved in a small amount of water. The melted lime is filtered and mixed with 50 liters of water. Then, the two mixtures obtained are combined by transferring them to a 100 liter container and thus a light blue slurry is formed.
Planting of saplings can still be continued.

March

Care should be taken to care for walnut saplings in March.
The rain and snow waters that fall during the winter back up the soil, and the hard layer formed as a result of this must be broken with the hand hoe method until the end of March. In this way, the evaporation of the water accumulated in the sapling root, the breathing and operation of the seedling root is ensured. In addition, it is ensured that the rain falling until the irrigation time is better absorbed by the soil.
Top pruning, which cannot be done in February, is made from 40 cm.
Planting of saplings can continue.

April

The bottom of the grafting point is checked frequently and the wild shoots are cut.
It is not recommended to plant open-rooted walnut saplings except for the first days, but planting tubed seedlings can be continued.

May

For the development of walnut trees, ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulfate fertilizers are given at the beginning of May and in the middle of May, starting from the first age of the seedlings, at the calculation of 100 grams/tree for each age of the tree.
Irrigation starts from the 15th of May. The amount of water and the time interval change according to the soil structure and climate.
If black spots are seen on walnut saplings, 1% burgundy slurry or ready-made copper is used.
The 1% burgundy slurry is prepared as follows: 1 kg of bluestone is dissolved in 50 liters of water. Then, half the amount of bluestone, ie 0.5 kg of quicklime, is dissolved in a small amount of water. The melted lime is filtered and mixed with 50 liters of water. Then, the two mixtures obtained are combined by transferring them to a 100 liter container and thus a light blue slurry is formed.
If leaf pests are seen, insecticide group drugs are applied.
If the surrounding of the sapling is grazed, hoeing is done with the hand hoe method. In this way, the root of the sapling is ensured to work comfortably.
Planting of tubed walnut saplings can be continued.

June

For the development of trees, at the beginning of June and in the middle of June, ammonium nitrate or ammonium sulfate fertilizers are given at the calculation of 100 grams/tree for each age of the tree, starting from the first age of the seedlings.
Irrigation is continued. The amount of water and the time interval change according to the soil structure and climate.
If leaf pests are seen again, insecticide group drugs are applied.
If the surrounding of the sapling is grazed, hoeing is done with the hand hoe method. In this way, the root of the sapling is ensured to work comfortably.
Planting of tubed walnut saplings can be continued.

July

Irrigation is continued.
Planting of tubed walnut saplings can be continued. However, we do not recommend too much because the seedlings require a lot of care in this month.

August

Starting from the 15th of August, watering is reduced and walnut saplings are prepared for winter.
Tubular seedlings can be planted. However, we do not recommend too much because the seedlings require a lot of care in this month.

September

Irrigation is not done in this month, but if the season is very dry, a small amount of water should be given to protect the stem of the sapling.
The fruit of the walnut tree is harvested.
Tubular seedlings can be planted.

October

The leaves that fall from the walnut saplings are collected and burned.
Dry branches of the sapling are taken and light pruning is done.
Planting of tubed walnut saplings can be continued.
